Wow! This last week went by quickly! Just yesterday, someone was asking me how far along I was. I started to say 13.5 weeks. But then I stopped and remembered that on Saturday I made the big switch to a new week! I am now 14 weeks (and 2 days, today) pregnant! That means I am officially in the second trimester! Hoping that my energy comes back now!
This time around, I am teaming up with Mama On A Green Mission to share my Pregnancy Journals as we go along. She is about 5 weeks ahead of me, so I am excited to be going through this with her! I am also excited to get to see “what’s coming” for me as I read her journals.
Baby’s Size This Week:
(Information from BabyCenter.com) This week’s big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he’ll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you’re having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
In other news: Your baby’s stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body’s growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that’s in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He’s starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby’s liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it’s doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can’t feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist’s hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.
How Am I Feeling?
Just fine! Still tired a lot of the time. Hoping for my energy to come back. Otherwise, doing great!
Food Cravings And Aversions:
Nothing. For either. I don’t HAVE TO have anything in particular. I am also not avoiding anything right now. I love fruit! Some veggies are sounding more appealing than normal. But so far I don’t CRAVE anything.
This last week has been hard. Little Man was sick Monday and Tuesday. Big Sis was sick Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So I really didn’t sleep well. Finally got some good sleep Saturday night and last night. Other than sick babies, I have been sleeping better and waking up/staying awake less!
Honestly, I think I might have felt the baby Saturday and Sunday! I know it’s really early! But I felt these little fluttery “bumps” in my LOWER stomach/uterus area. I am HOPING they were baby movements! I LOVE feeling the Baby!
In the last week I gained .5 pounds. So I am now up to 147.5.
My next appointment is not for 3 more weeks.
What Happened This Week:
I talked about it briefly… Little Man got a real low fever Monday. He was just groggy, fussy, and clingy. I thought for sure it was teeth because that’s typical teething behavior for him. It lasted through most of Tuesday. No teeth popped out, but that doesn’t mean that they didn’t move up. Then Wednesday Big Sis woke up feeling icky. She had a much higher fever. She was really groggy and we spent the day laying on the couch. She even threw up Wednesday night. (I don’t do throw up. As soon as I smell it, I start to gag and even throw up myself often. So THANK GOD Daddy J was home and able to clean it up. He doesn’t seem to be bothered by that kind of stuff.) Thursday and Friday were very much the same. By Friday evening it seemed to have tapered off. Saturday morning she was MUCH better! Then Sunday we went to see Thomas The Tank Engine! (I’ll be telling you all about that later)
Something That Upset Me:
I wasn’t *upset*, but it always makes me so sad to see my babies sick! I feel so bad that I can’t do more to take away the ickies!
Boy Or Girl?
I am excited to announce that we are TEAM GREEN! We have been with the other two, we will be again with this one! So, you will know shortly after we do! But it won’t be until the baby is here!!
Going in the “typical” 40 week pregnancy, I now have 26 weeks left. Right now, that seems like a long time, but I know it’ll go fast! I do usually (have with the other two anyway) go overdue and I am induced a week late. So we will see what happens this time!
