I’m sad. I skipped my journal from last week. I was just TOO TIRED to work on my computer. Last week was a very tired week for me! BUT… I’ll try to do a little catch up this week and let you know what’s been going on!
April at Mama On A Green Mission and I have decided to team up and work on these pregnancy journals together! I love it! She’s about 5 weeks ahead of me, so I get to see what’s coming my way!
Baby’s Size This Week:
(Information from BabyCenter.com) Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he’s about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren’t recognizable yet. He’s even started growing toenails. And there’s a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
How Am I Feeling?
I feel just fine! I have all pregnancy long! Other than being tired. And as I mentioned earlier, last week I was REALLY tired! I am still more tired than I expected to be by now. I usually get my energy back around 14 ish weeks. Here we are at 16 weeks and still low energy. BUT I do know that I need to drink A LOT more water, and I have read that drinking enough water will help with energy. SO… DRINK MORE WATER! (I was telling myself that! But you can remind me to drink more water anytime you want! )
Food Craving And Aversions:
CHOCOLATE! This week, yesterday in particular, I have wanted chocolate. Honestly, it’s been a while since I have had any (or much anyway). So yesterday I wanted Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Hershey’s Kisses. I found a yummy recipe for the cookie dough, so I thought I’d try that. If it’s as good as it looks, I’ll share it with you!
Uh. Yes. Sometimes. Haha! My kiddos both got to feeling better for about a week. But then we got colds. I haven’t gotten one too bad, just a few sneezes. But both kids have been up, Little Man in particular, coughing during the night. So I am up with him a lot. But when we are all asleep, I am sleeping much better! Not staying awake for hours anymore! However, I am getting to a point where I toss and turn more. I just can’t lay on my sides for long, can’t lay on my stomach at all (although I have never been a tummy sleeper), and can’t lay on my back for long either. So I go from one side to my back and then to the other side a bit later. But no big deal. I am sleeping well!
I am so super excited! I think it was around 14 weeks that I first felt Baby move. Not regularly, but some. I can still feel Baby! It’s not all the time, but I do feel the little kicks inside once in a while. Nothing from the outside yet, but I love those little flutters in there!
I had an appointment last Thursday (I’ll get to that in a minute) and I was up to 149, so in 16 weeks I have gained a total of 9 pounds.
I have my routine appointment one week from today, next Monday.
What Happened This Week:
Oh man… (This is the part where I catch up on two weeks worth of journals) So, Thursday, September 26 I flew out to Indianapolis to visit my best friend. She is getting married next April and I am one of the bride’s maids! I am so excited to get to be a part of her big day! But I can’t do much from Colorado. And being pregnant, it’s not going to be long before I can’t fly out there anymore until the baby comes (and yes, we will fly out there with a NEWborn – due March 22, typically get induced a week overdue – wedding April 26). I wanted to be a part of *something*, so they were kind enough to wait to do dress shopping until I could get out there.
So. I flew in Thursday, landed there about 6:30pm. We went home, cooked and ate dinner, hung out, I got to see all the wedding prep (this girl is just about all ready!), and we just talked. That’s what we do best together! Well, that and shopping. Haha! So we decided around 11:30pm that we should get ready for bed. We had all along talked about going to bed early while I was there (without kids). 11:30pm is not early. But that’s what happens when we get to talking!
Getting ready for bed, I went to the bathroom. Well, there was a spot of blood in the toilet and I wiped a bit of pink! The good news was that I didn’t have any pain and I was not BLEEDING, just the little spots. So we decided that since I was there for the weekend, and I don’t have a doctor out there, I better go to the ER and get checked. We got there about 11:45pm. Got right in to a room and thought “Yay! This will go quick!” Boy, was I wrong! We waited FOR.EV.ER. They took blood and urine for lab work. I am Rh- so I get the Rogam shot each pregnancy. I haven’t had it yet with this one, but since I was bleeding, they wanted to make sure so they could give it to me. We waited and waited. They finally came and got me and we went for an IN DPETH (it took over an hour) ultrasound. The ultrasound guy said to me “I do the ultrasound. Then I take the scans to another radiologist to be read. Then you’ll get your report from the ER doctor. So I can’t answer any questions.” I thought “Ok. Then I won’t ask any.” So for over an hour it was silent in that room! So weird! And awkward! And nerving! Because it wasn’t until the VERY END that he finally said “Well, let me show you what I’ve been looking at here.” and pointed out the baby wiggling and the heart beating. He was obviously looking at more than just that, but he “couldn’t tell me any more than that.” The thing that frustrated me was that I just wanted to know that the baby was ok. Why couldn’t he have said “Oh, there’s a wiggly baby in here!” or played the heart beat out loud for me to hear. Or SOMETHING! I’m dying of nerves wanting to know that the baby is ok.
Well, I get back to my room and we wait and wait and wait some more. Finally the ER doctor comes in and said “I got tired of waiting for them to read your scans, so I read them myself.” He went on to tell me that things looked “normal for the most part.” Yikes! For the most part? What’s wrong??
Baby is fine!! But I have a Subchorionic Hemorrhage. I also have a UTI and have to start antibiotics. He went in to explain a bit about the Subchorionic Hemorrhage and said that I just need to have a follow up with my OB and have him monitor it. So he didn’t seem too worried. I talked with friends about it, a couple had had one too and everything was fine. When I called to make my appointment for the follow up they weren’t urgent in getting me in. So that really settled my nerves!
Fast forward (we ended up finding her wedding dress the next day! And our bride’s maids dresses! We had a great rest of the weekend, but were up late every night! I think that’s why I was so tired last week.) to this last Thursday, October 3. I had my follow up appointment. I had an ultrasound first and then met with the doctor. Both the ultrasound tech and the doctor said “If you have to have one, this is a great one to have.” It’s up high, away from my cervix! It’s really small! And it was already coagulating! Yay! They said that we will continue to watch it, but I shouldn’t have problems. If I do, I can come in right away and they’ll check it again.
So, it was eventful. But sounds hopeful! In other news, nothing much is happening around the house! Oh. Wait! My sister-in-law got a job back here in town! And my brother has to finish his job out in Washington D.C. (should take about a month), but then gets to move back here too! We are SO EXCITED to have them back home!!
Something That Upset Me:
Last week – spotting – ER trip
This week – I really can’t come up with anything! We don’t have any chocolate in the house, and that’s a bummer! But otherwise… I don’t have much to complain about this week!
Something I Look Forward To:
I actually enjoy going to my doctor appointments because I LOVE to hear that little heart beating away on the doppler monitor! I am also excited for our next ultrasound, which will be around 20ish weeks. You can be praying with me that this Subchorionic Hemorrhage is GONE by then!
Boy Or Girl?
We’ll find out on or around March 22, 2014! (Due Date) Go Team GREEN!
I am currently 16 weeks and 2 days. That means, going on the 40 week pregnancy, I have about 23 weeks and 5 days left. However, I have been induced a week overdue with my other two, so I am half expecting to do the same thing this time as well.
Don’t forget to check out Mama On A Green Mission’s Pregnancy Journal as well!
